A/C F*ck up

So I think I f-ed up . Ac was blowing is usual driver side cold pass side warm , charged it up without doing any research , to roughly 48-54 psi running . Sitting in gas station ac on low parked and smoke starts pouring out , my guess is the refregerant blew out onto a hot engine block which burned it off , it was defiantly refregerant . Ac still works and is frosty but I'm guessing in a few days I'm gonna have big issues unless BMW 2001 540i has a fail safe blow off valve if the pressure is to high ?
