Hey guys,
I have a bit of a dilemma. I recently purchased an E92 M3 from my local stealership. I'm highly unsatisfied with the entire transaction, the car has been in the shop 27 of the past 32 days, and there's a whole lot more to cry about, but that's for a different thread at a different time. My issue/question is this. My car is non idrive, and as unbelievable as it might be for modern cars, also NO BLUETOOTH!!! So you can see how it is very important to me to install an aftermarket double DIN stereo with navigation and Bluetooth. But I asked my service advisor, who I trust very much, if he thinks it might be problematic to have a non BMW piece of hardwire installed in such a technologically advanced car. His response was yes, it can cause a whole slew of problems. He said that it isn't always problematic, and some shops manage to do it well, but it's best not to do it, and avoid the potential headache's.
He also said he thinks there is a retrofit that can add Bluetooth functionality for hands free telephoning, so I'm considering just doing that, and mounting a Tom Tom for GPS or something like that. But I'd really like to go with a high end sound system, something much much better than the pos stock system.
Anyway, do any of you E9X owners have experience with aftermarket sound systems, and what problems, if any, have you encountered? Or has it been the best decision you've ever made, to upgrade your car stereo, and if so, what suggestions do you have to ensure a headache free transition?
Thanks guys, any help is greatly appreciated. It's actually pretty nice keeping the stereo off in this M car, the sound of the exhaust note from the S65 is sweet sweet music enough most times, lol.
