Have a new to me 97 740il which had a bad cluster.
I have one of the older clusters with the module which you can remove. Unfortunately its the module that has gone bad so I need a new cluster.
I got a cheap one off ebay and i obviously get the tamper dot.
I know the fix for this is to buy a new cluster and have bmw code it to the car.
My question is can i do this at any time, say for example drive around with the tamper dot one for a 1000 miles and then get a new one from BMW or do I have to do it now?
