hello there, just picked up a 2001 740i M-Sport for a great price but in need of a lot of work. i am fairly familiar with BMW's so the project has been a fun one so far. i have a few problems though that i am not too familiar with and am in need of some assistance.
1.) the car makes a weird noise upon startup, and am unsure of what it can be. pay attention to that whirring sound at the beginning (ignore the stuck tape in the deck lol). video below:
2.) the car came with rear heated seats and first time I tried to turn them on the light flashed on and immediately flashed off. after gutting the whole interior to do a deep clean I noticed the previous owner had unplugged them. once i plugged it back in the light stayed on but both the bottom and back heaters would not heat up. i have never encountered problems with heated seats prior to this i dont know where to start
3.) my audio system sounds extremely hollow. even after tweaking the DSP settings i still get pretty horribly audio quality. i had a 2000 e46 with a non-hk system and it was leaps and bounds better than what the e38 has now. i'm wondering if the amp is the issue but from what i've read if an amp was bad the audio wouldn't even work but someone please correct me if i'm wrong. i will get a video of this as soon as it stops raining here in socal.
4.) both my front headrests don't go down all the way. is this normal for all e38's? here is a picture i found online, as you can see there is a gap between headrest and the seat (the passenger side is how both my seats are) and i am curious if this is a problem or not (i am ocd like that)
