Nurburgring FSZ2 Drift day

Hey guys,

On vacation with my family right now in Europe and was able to make it to a drift day at the Nurburgring FSZ2 driver training course, held by DriftDay Nurburgring. Huge thanks to Axel Mack and Harald Muller for getting a rental E36 lined up for me to drift!

What an awesome course! Continous lapping all day long from 9am to 6pm, with an Ebisu style small course. No 1 minute run, then getting back in line for 10-15 minutes to go again. Several of the sessions were 20-25 minutes of continuous drifting, until I had to take a breather and let the car rest a bit too.

Here is a video of one lap there. They continually wet the track down to keep the tire screeching noise down, as Germany is very strict about noise ordinances. (Even near the Nurburgring apparently)

M50 non-vanos, stock angle. Maybe 180hp:

They turn the water on to wet the track down, then let it dry out, then turn it back on. The water level is deeper in some areas so the grip is changing constantly, which made it quite a challenge. What a blast! :D

I think I took like 15 gigs of video until my battery died. Got some great tandem near the end with Florian Seibold and a few other E36 drivers, but unfortunately the battery was dead by that point.

Hope you enjoy!

Mike
