Long story short, the tail panel on the rear of the car got crinkled in about 4 inches or so, and one of the tabs of the frame that fit the aluminum bumpers is slightly bent.

I was quoted 3 grand to fix the frame and the body fully. Needless to say, that's not going to happen. I used a tree, tow crank and strap, and other various objects to pull the frame and body out a little, then used body filler. It didn't turn out too bad.

I want as close to perfection as possible though, I require nothing less of my car :D. So instead of spending thousands of dollars, i saw this tail panel on line for $160 or i saw a perfectly good E30 in the junkyard with the same body that would be $35. I was thinking of taking out the bad panel and weld in a new one. It looks like the body of all these panels are welded in the same places. Has anyone done this or have any opinions about it? Like welding vs. brazing or anything of the sort? I'm ok at welding. I feel like the panel would have to be perfectly aligned to prevent leaks and what not. I asked a shop, and they said about $600-$1000 to replace it. It'd take me several months to save up money to have a shop do it, so the sooner the better :).
