Cool air on the sides and warm air in the middle

My grandson just purchased a 2002 E46 325, not a bad car but I wish they had let me look at it first. He brought it over today because the AC didnt work..put gauges on the car and it had 70 pounds of pressure on the low side....too much got it down to 50 and the compressor ran now like it should....air in the side vents pretty cool but the center vent is hot.....even with the control fully to the blue direction....any suggestions ?
