Mk4 Nav Upgrade Tech Questions

I've searched but still have a few questions regarding my upcoming Mk3 > Mk4 upgrade:

1. I assume Mk4 navs from Canada work in my US E38, right? While I plan to buy stateside, what about other parts of the world?
2. Looking at the labels on used navs, I see references to hardware/software versions such as: "HW 1.0/SW 5". Which SW version corresponds to the presumably desirable V32 update?
3. I assume "V32" is the last software update and can be easily applied to any nav unit I buy? I further assume this makes the nav unit's date of manufacture and SW version irrelevant?
4. Since BimmerNav no longer sells Mk4 navs and has removed some of its documentation, I believe it said to use "high" version maps with the Mk4. Is that correct?
5. In order for all nav functions to work it has to be coded with your car's VIN, correct?
6. I have NavCoder software and the Resler USB interface. Does anyone sell a Resler-to-car connection or do people just improvise?
7. I plan to connect at the CD changer point. Does anyone happen to have a p/n for the female connector there? If I connect there, I assume the green Resler NTSC wire goes unused, correct?
