Hello everyone, having some issues with my new motor i just dropped in my race car. The motor is running schrick cams with turners software. I gave the motor lots of time to break in and over the weekend finished off the break in by driving up to road america to race. On the drive up car had great power, lot more torque lower down compared to my old motor and all was well. With about 30 min left to drive to get to the track it rained and i noticed a big drop in power. so i thought to myself, adaptive system needed to learn the colder intake temps and it will come back, well it never did. Saturday i matched my old lap times with the new motor (the old motor had 143k and stock cams) and i couldn't feel the new power, it felt like the old motor. On Sunday i was a half second slower, take this as you will as it could have been me but the car setup didnt change, fuel level was the same, and couple laps were very smooth and felt like they would be fast ones but I was still slower. The drive up it was 91deg then then temp dropped to ~65 with the rain, Saturday it was 90, Sunday is was 86. So few questions...
Im running a leak down to see if the motor glazed its rings, but im not burning oil, i will also drain and check oil for stuffs.
Im also running AKG delrin motor mounts, iv heard stores of these throwing false knocks? maybe with the new power it was throwing false knocks while racing and not the drive up as i was taking it easy on the drive up?
Possibly VANOS? i checked the input voltage to the solenoid and i cant get any voltage from the harness. Shouldnt i see a 12v signal? ( i did rev the motor up to 3k to see if there was an actuation point)
Im going to 12v test the solenoid and see if it works.
Slightly hard to get off the line though ( iv stalled it twice which i never do )
And last but not least, is the adaptive system just taking its sweet ass time? Its run 2 races and 2 qualys since the rain so i would have thought it would have fixed itself.
Otherwise engine runs great, no noticeable lumps in the power band and fires up fine.
Let me know what you guys are thinking and ill post back when i dig into it.
Thanks,
Patrick
