Hey guys, longtime member of this forum but rarely post since the 1995 740i gave up the ghost. However, yesterday I picked up a 1983 633csi for my son to drive locally to college and for the two of us to work on together. He had a choice of much more moderns cars but this was his dream car. Should be fun fixing this thing up, but neither of us have any experience fixing up BMW's, so lots to learn. 150,000 miles. Drives great, small amount of undercarriage rust, nice straight body, most things work pretty good in the car.
Two things I need to address right away if you can help me.
1. Parking brake handle doesn't work. The brake does work when you pull the handle up and light comes on on dash but the handle won't actually stay engaged. The push button mechanism is crammed up into the handle. Anybody dealt with this? Do you rebuild it somehow or replace the entire handle? This is a big deal obviously with the car being a manual.
2. Wipers work but very very weak. I would assume just worn out motors on their last leg? Can somebody tell me the best place to start finding these parts? I have a couple local junkyards in my area as well. Or, anybody here have the motors?
