Hi all,
Since the 8er group is so diverse in all things automotive I wanted to get your input. I have this little project for my tbirds.
So for YEARS i've been keeping my eyes open for these OEM Thunderbird rubber floor mats. In a matter of about 10 years (at least) I've been able to land just two sets...but...of course, none are the color I want which is grey. I've got a black set and the tan set below. The black set i landed is brand new so i'm storing that one, the tan set I scored out of a car from the junk yard so they're dirty but in good shape.
I had originally planned to sell the tan set but...it just hit me....why not try painting it grey? So do you guys have any recommendations of products that would adhere well to this particular kind of rubber?
The plan is to paint the "Thunderbird" lettering and tbird emblems in black, then mask them off and paint the entire mats in grey to fit the grey interior shade.
Do you guys have any opinions on what products to use and what process or prep to use to better my chances of adhesion?
Your assistance and input is always valuable.
Thanks!
