I have a set of standard Style 47 wheels on my Z3 Coupe, and am thinking about fitting 17" wheels (which would be the OEM option size) to take a little advantage of the extra space under the rear fenders. All the talk about offsets and staggering is a bit confusing to me, but what I THINK is the case, is that the standard Z3 offset can be between 35 and 47mm. A wheel link I found says that my wheels are ET46, so that makes sense.
Does this mean that, in just looking at BMW wheels alone, any 17" 120x5 wheel between 35 and 47mm will fit okay?
I'm looking at a set of Style 68 that I like, and I would choose tire sizes like OEM options: 225/45-17 front and 245/40-17 rear.
The potential problem is that the front offset on these is 41 and the rear is 50. Does this mean I have a problem in putting an ET50 on where the max should be ET47?

Switch from 16" to 17" on 1999 Z3 Coupe
