I recently had my 3.0 in for service. 2002 Z3, 3.0i, 146,000 miles
She was running very rough. The more humid the worse she ran. Error Codes read with a PEAKE R5/FCX-3 included: Misfires on Cyl 1,2,3,4,5; Oxygen Sensor Control and Oxygen Sensor Adaptation Limit Cyl #1-3 and 4-6; and Idle Control System, idle speed not plausible. I was adding oil at a rate of 4oz. a week. I was frequently topping off the Power Steering reservoir. There was an odor of some fluid burning off the engine block.
All the error codes disappeared after replacing the:
Intake Manifold Adjuster Valve No.: 11617544805
Valve Cover Gasket No.: 11129070990

Also:
Replaced Power Steering reservoir hose.
Drained and filled the transmission with Royal Purple Synchromax.
Drained and filled the Differential with Red Line 75W-140 Gear Oil.
Results:
Shifting with my Whalen shift knob is very smooth with no notches. The differential is super quiet and all the whining is gone.
