I I searched the forums and have tried a few of the suggestions, but now I'm thinking my problem is sort of unique.
A few weeks ago i was driving on the freeway heading home to Idaho, I got an SES light and since I didn't have my scanner with me I just kept going, then the road started going uphill into a mountain range and all of the sudden it felt like I was in my old 4-banger. I could get the speed up to about 70mph before it plateaued. I even started decelerating when the incline got steeper. Not only that but I filled up a while later and found that my fuel economy had dropped by about 6mpg.
When I got to Idaho I had the codes read by an indie bimmer shop, the codes were 2960, 2973, and 2974. All dealing with the upstream O2 sensors, the mechanic told me that it's pretty unlikely that both O2 sensors would go at the same time so he reset the codes and off I went. The codes came back about 30 miles down the road and I was still experiencing the same symptoms. I did the starter fluid test on my intake hoses and they are not leaking, checked the ignition coils by pulling them at idle and they all seemed to be working, but to test it under load I bought a new coil and put it in bank 1 and went for a test drive, then bank 2, etc. no change. I went ahead and replaced the O2 sensors, no change, got the DME software update ($260) replaced the DISA seal (and rebuilt it with the kit from German Auto Solutions) put in new fuel injector o-rings, cleaned the MAF and the filter, no change. Fuel filter was replaced a year ago and spark plugs are new too, I only run 91 octane or better and use concentrated Techron about 1 out of 5 fill-ups. I'm sort of just scratching my head at this point. I still have low power uphill at high speed and significantly lower fuel economy. Also the codes haven't come back since the software update. Suggestions?
