I am having trouble diagnosing what is causing my soft top to not operate properly.
The soft top motor is brand new, but it sure seems like it's having a hard time pulling the soft top up and lower the soft top to the close position.
When the soft top is going down it always gets stuck, refuses to move in the middle position (please see picture 1), and will not keep going down unless I gently push it with my hand. I am thinking this is probably due to worn tension straps.
The more annoying problem I have is that when the soft top either goes down or up, it always rubs hard against the moving tonneau cover, causing it to barely move or get stuck completely, which then requires someone to manually push the soft top away from the tonneau cover (please see pictures 2 and 3). I inspected the tonneau cover in its highest open position and found an inch or two of free play, not too bad.
I have read somewhere that replacing the tonneau cover shocks or pushing the tonneau cover motor forward may provide enough clearance for the parts not to collide against each other. Is this true in my case? Or should I only focus on the worn tension straps?
Any help is appreciated.
Thank you very much in advance.
Jon

Is it the tension straps? Tonneau cover shocks? Or something else?
