I am having problems with my 97 318ti. I guess it is in limp mode. Here is the story. Maybe someone can help me get Momma back in her car.
I was cruising down the interstate and the radio started cutting on and off. I then looked at the dash and had different warning lights come on and off.
Within a mile, I pulled over. Car would not start back up. I towed it home and pulled the alternator. Had it checked and it was bad. I then had it rebuilt and then purchased a new battery.
Now, the car will run fine for a few short minutes, then it seems to kick out of gear and the engine revs. You have to stop then start again for the car to move. This is an automatic transmission.
I am going to go outside and check the tranny fluid as soon as the storms we are having pass.
Any idea as to what might be the problem and what I need to check or look for?
