Novice seeks AutoX / Track worthy setup for E36.

Hello Bimmerforums. I have a '99 328is that I am looking to take to some autocross and track events.

Currently I am unable to fit in the car with a helmet. Even if it were possible, I don't feel that the stock sport seats would provide enough lateral support on the track.

I am trying to figure out a good solution for hitting the track on a budget. I think the only thing that will give me the headroom and support I need is a side mounted racing bucket.

The car is my daily driver and I don't have plans to turn the car into a dedicated track machine so I want to keep things reasonable for street ability and cost.

So, what's the best (cheapness + practicality + safety) way to get a racing seat and appropriate harness in my car? I was looking at a Schroth quick fit but my understanding is that they require the stock receptacle which would be removed with the seat.

Any help is greatly appreciated!
