My 2011 535xi has 245/48 R19 Run Flat Tires. Put new cast aluminum wheels on just 8 months ago, and the cast aluminum on all four are beat up from the smallest pot holes on the interstate.
I've ordered a spare wheel and want to replace the run flats with four regular tires, but would prefer also replacing the wheels with 18 inch rims and larger sidewall tires, just to avoid the continuing damage to the rims. If I stay with 19 inch, one wheel will likely have to be replaced from a close encounter with a 2 inch deep pothole. Anyone have experience doing this? Jim@Tire Rack, do you have an opinion?

19 inch wheels beaten up by small bumps. Can I replace with 18 inch & larger tire?
