So one thing I have always meant to get is a jack pad adapter for the rocker panel, like this one: http://ift.tt/1LDTXLx
My car is low and I can not get a jack under the front of it(even my low profile jack) without first jacking up the side. And its a pain in the ass having to get my jack under the rocker and line it up without hitting the side skirt. So I decided to make a rocker jack pad adapter :) I could have bought one, but $40+ SH is insane in my opinion, and I wanted two.. so $80+ SH is one of the main reasons I didnt buy one a long time ago. I made mine out of scrap metal I had laying around, so it was essentially free.
I took some pictures and Ill explain a bit in case anyone else wants to try..
Ill say in advance, the ONLY thing I would change, and will change on the second one, is I would make it longer. It works fine and the jack doesn't hit the car, but itd be a bit more convenient if it was longer. The next one will be made with 11" round bar.
Tools used:
Plasma cutter(totally optional.. a cut off wheel would have worked too)
Angle grinder
Welder
Various clamps
Material:
3/4" solid round bar
1/4" steel plate
Tools:

First I cut the bar to 9 3/4".

Next I ground two notches into the bar 180 degrees apart. There are two nipples in the rocker, so this is required.

I then marked a 3 1/4" x 3 1/4" square. This was the right size for my jack.

I used my plasma cutter to cut the square, and then knocked off two edges and rounded off all the sharp edges with my angle grinder.

Next I aligned the bar and plate in the correct orientation. The nipples in the rocker are at 9 and 3 oclock, so the notches must be parallel to the ground before welding.

Welded up here and paineted silver. Excuse the welds.. I am out of gas so I had to use flux core, which is by far the ugliest welding method. Plenty strong though.

In use :D works perfectly.
