m52 engine help!

Hey guys. I bought a 1996 bmw 318ti. It has a m52 swap in it. I bought it with a bad engine noise and the engine dies if the throttle is not depressed. The noise happens at low rpms but seams like it goes away at high rpms. I reset the timing as well as corrected any vacuum leaks that I could find. I blew smoke through an intake hose and found a leak that was coming through the spark plug area on cylinder #5. I assume this is a bad valve cover gasket but have not replaced it yet. I replaced the spark plugs. no check engine light is on. I have also tested the compression. It showed between 185 and 205 on all cylinders.

None of what I have done thus far has made a difference. It sound the same as the day I bought it.

Here is a video that should give you an idea of how it sounds. I was jumping the car to get it started so some of the noise is from another vehicle.

Please let me know if you have any ideas for me. Where should I go from here? Thanks!
