Question on a Used EKM module and coding

I need an opinion from experts about EKM module. I understand that if a used cluster is mated to EKM the cluster needs to be tricked so that the EKM information is transferred to to the used cluster.
Question is can the used EKM module be coded or tricked to accept cluster data? Or does it forever hold the donor car's information??
