What goes after the engine & tranny? How many miles on the frame?

Hi all,

First post on these forums. I don't actually own a BMW, but I'm looking getting into an e30 now. I'm talking to someone with an 89 325i that seems to be a really good piece, but I'm concerned about the number of miles on it. The car has 230,000 miles, but it has an engine with only 80,000 miles, and the transmission was replaced with a manual when the automatic went. Maintenance records are still up in the air, but he said his dad took good care of it, and everything I know about it seems good. It's got new seats, top, tires, a nice looking interior and exterior, no leaks, no rust, electrics work, just AC doesn't work. So I'm just wondering what I should look out for in an e30 with this many miles on the frame.

What large components are likely to go in a high mile e30 after the engine and tranny have been replaced?
Could this be a good purchase for a daily driver, and what price would you pay for it?

I'm a young kid with considerable wrenching experience on my motorcycle. I could do some of the work on the BMW, but my tools are limited. I'm a little scared I could end up throwing money into this thing non-stop as different things go.

Any input is much appreciated! Thanks,
Allan
