Worn flex disc and csb causing shifting problem?

Lately I've been having some clunking from under the car when accelerating in 1st and 2nd gear. I believe it's worn flex disc or center support bearing. It only happens when accelerating from a stop or when slowing down to really slow speeds.

I drove the car for a pretty long distance last night and shifted up to 5th with the aforementioned clunking when accelerating from stop and decelerating to slower speeds. At one point I got the car all up to 5th gear and cruised until I decided to stop for a snack and some gas. THIS IS WHERE I ALMOST SHAT MY PANTS.

When I tried to downshift from 5th to 4th there was a high pitched grinding sound and I could not engage the gear so I left it in neutral and coasted to a stop. Then she I tried to put it in 1st the car acted like it didn't want to engage making the slight grinding sound for a moment and then engaging. 2nd and 3rd worked fine and 4th grinded a little and then engaeged as well. I got gas and some red vines let the car sit for a minute and then continued the trip with caution.

This time everything was normal until I tried to shift into 4th again, it made the grinding noise again but still engaged. I was too afraid to even try to go to 5th so i continued the trip cruising in 4th and it worked fine until I had to slow for traffic towards the end of my trip. Every Time I switched from 3rd to 4th it made the noise and then when driving in 3rd it felt like something underneath the car was rubbing. I

I've read that sometimes a failed flex disc or csb can allow the driveshaft to rub against the trans linkage but I'm not sure if that's true and if it's the cause of what's happening. Car has over 200,000 miles. Someone please help me shed some light on this!
